GridWork is a real spreadsheet — a formula engine with proper lookups, conditional aggregates and statistical functions, real error codes when a formula breaks, and charts drawn from live data. Conflicting edits on the same cell are resolved automatically and shown clearly to both people, not silently dropped. Eli sits alongside it and can read a range, write a formula, or build a chart from what it just calculated.

What it actually does

A real formula engine,
not a toy calculator.

40-plus built-in functions, proper lookups, and formulas that fail loudly instead of silently — the depth a spreadsheet needs to hold real numbers.

Lookups that actually look up

VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, MATCH and INDEX resolve for real, alongside conditional aggregates like SUMIF, COUNTIF and AVERAGEIF and statistical functions like MEDIAN, MODE and STDEV — forty-odd functions in all, not a handful of the obvious ones.

Errors that tell you what broke

A bad reference shows #REF!, a divide-by-zero shows #DIV/0!, a formula that loops back on itself shows #CYCLE! and a lookup that finds nothing shows #N/A — propagated the way a real spreadsheet does, instead of a blank cell hiding the problem.

Structure survives edits

Insert or delete a row or column and every formula that referenced the shifted cells — on every sheet in the workbook — remaps automatically. Nothing quietly points at the wrong cell.

Conditional formatting & live charts

Color scales highlight the numbers that matter, and charts read straight from the sheet so they redraw when the values they're plotting change.

In a spreadsheet, Eli's panel gets cell-level tools — it can read a range, write a formula, or build a chart from the data it just calculated, instead of inventing a number that sounds plausible.

Ask for a total, an average, or "which stores are under target," and Eli opens the actual sheet and reads the cells rather than guessing from a title.

It writes formulas

Not just values — Eli can write the formula itself, so the result keeps recalculating the normal way after the numbers change again.

Ask for a chart of what it just found, and it builds one sourced from the real range — not a static image of one moment in time.
